THE EDGERTON TOBACCO MARKET.
Edgerton, Wis., April 27 . 1886
The tobacco market continues to be active in the principal centers in the state. Buyers have been riding freely during the week; and have contracted for a large amount of tobacco. From a third to one-half of the '85 crop has probably been sold to date. Prices have apparently improved a trifle, yet they are extremely low and unprofitable. Seed-beds for the new crop are being made, though generally the arrangements are for less acreage.
The arrivals of eastern dealers include Henry Friedman and M. Oppenheimer, of Hew York; John Elnerbrink, of York, Pa., and Perry N. Hall, of Milford, Ct. The shipments from this station the past week were forty-one carloads, or nearly 2,000 cases. The Reporter gives the following list of sales, showing the range of prices:
