STATE TEACHERS' MEETING.
Sheboygan, July 12.—Yesterday the thirty-first annual convention of the Wisconsin Teachers' association convened in this city, and will last through Friday. Members commenced arriving on Monday and to-day the swarm of promoters of education, both male and female, is extremely conspicuous at the hotels and in the Park. The numerous arrivals exceeded the capacity of the hotels, the Park and Pope house, and many were kindly and comfortably accommodated in private families. Last evening's trains brought crowds from all directions, and 300 to 400 are participating in the convention. A preliminary meeting of educators was held at the high school room yesterday, and last evening the convention opened with the annual address, Great Teachers, by President J. W. Stearns, followed by a few brief but interesting remarks by others, when the meeting adjourned until this morning. Last evening Fountain park, which is a beautiful spot laid out thickly wooded with monster pines by nature's hand, was illuminated with 1,000 Chinese lanterns. A brass band enlivened the occasion. [
