Severely Injured
Mr. H. A. Dunn, of the Yard Forces Crushed Between Two CarsMr. H. A. Dunn, a young man employed on the yards, was caught between the bumpers of two freight cars yesterday afternoon at 8 o'clock and severely mashed. He was at work on the tracks when the incident occurred, and being obscured between the cars the engineer on the yard engine did not see him until he had been caught. He was conveyed on a stretcher for medical attention to the office of Dr. Wilson, who is acting as railway surgeon int he absence of Dr. J. Francke Fox. Mr. Dunn is reported as doing very well considering the severity of his injuries.
He is 19 years old, and a son of W. H. Dunn, a prosperous farmer of near Potterstown, Monroe County, W. Va. He is a relative of Mr. L. A. Dunn, of the Southern Express Co., and had only been in the railroad's company's employ about 5 weeks. [The New Daily Telegraph (Bluefield, West Virginia), Thursday, February 27, 1896]
WILDA WEIKLE BETTER
Wilda Weikle, 8 years old, who was struck by a car driven by Arnold Knotts of Morgantown last Wednesday near Salt Sulphur, has shown slight improvement at the Ronceverte hospital. She has partially recovered consciousness and seems to understand when she is spoken to, although unable to reply. Mr. Knotts gave bond of $1,000 before Squire Tomlinson here Friday for his appearance before the next grand jury and then returned to Morgantown. [THE MONROE WATCHMAN, 10 AUG 1933]
