Graduated from Calhoun County High
School and West Virginia University; Married Edward Bert Babitzke on Oct.
5, 1963, at Lackland Air Force Base; Mrs. Babitzke entered the Air Force
in 1962. She served in Texas, Alaska, Southeast Asia and Arizona as a
personnel officer and received the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service
Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with five bronze stars. She retired as a
major in November 1989. Life member of West Virginia University Alumni
Association, Germans from Russia Heritage Society and National Rifle
Association. She was also a member of American Historical Society of
Germans from Russia, Beer Can Collectors of America and American
Breweriana Association. She enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mrs. Babitzke had
been living in Tucson since 1969. |

On last Saturday
August Bohn , of Parkersburg, W. Va., attempted
to save his 5 year old son who had fallen into the water, but both were drowned.

"Aunt Peggy" Brown , of Parkersburg, W. Va., is dead, aged nearly a century.
Miss Maud D'Alma , was drowned near Parkersburg, W. Va., on
Saturday. Miss D'Alma was a resident of Clearfield and she with her family were traveling with a circus which was
showing near Parkersburg, when a cloud burst, the flood striking the tent and tearing it to pieces and carrying
Miss D'Alma to a watery grave before any assistance could be rendered.

John W. Hall and little son were drowned in the Ohio river at Parkersburg, W. Va. The boy was taken with a fit while swimming. His father attempted to rescue him, when both drowned.
Manley Harris and George Hayes were fatally burned on the 7th in a fire at the Argand oil works near Parkersburg, W. Va.
The two year old child of W.H.
Hatcher , Parkersdale, W. Va.,
was fatally burned while playing about a fire.

Abel Hughes and his wife and child were drowned near Parkersburg, W. Va., on the 10th by being thrown off a bridge into the river by a runaway team.

Born near Letter Gap, she was a
daughter of the late Henry and Ollie Isher Burwell.
She was a member of the Pleasant
Hill United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star No. 14 in Parkersburg.
Grantsville Rebekah Lodge, and Pleasant Hill Farm Woman’s Club.
Survivors include one daughter,
Mrs. Emily Stevens of Parkersburg; three sons, Henry Wease of Scott Depot, James
Wease of Elkview, and William E. Wease of Clarksburg; one sister, Mrs. Bertha
Wagner of Glenville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, William.
Funeral
services were held at 2p.m. Tuesday, October 4, in the Stump Funeral Home in
Grantsville, with the Rev. Carroll McCauley officiating. Burial was in the
Bethlehem Cemetery at Grantsville.
