AKERS, Virginia, the six year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Akers died at the home of her parents on Center street last Saturday morning, after an illness extending since Christmas. The little girl was a patient sufferer from heart trouble and dropsy. The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the home of the parents on Center street, at 2 oclock. Rev. Davis of the Baptist church officiating at the services. Many beautiful flowers were sent and the little school mates of the deceased attended in a body from the West Flat school. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of their many friends. ["Rock Springs Rocket" Friday, February 13, 1920]

AKERS, Virginia -
The death of Virginia the little six year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Akers occurred on Saturday morning, from pneumonia. Virginia was a lovable little child and her death leaves a sad vacancy in the home. The funeral was held from the home at two o'clock on Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Davis [February 13, 1920 "Rock Springs Miner"]

ALLEN, Konnor Corry 2, of Green River, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the Primary Childrens Medical Center in Salt Lake City. He was the infant son of Phylicia Rasdall and Robert Corry Allen, both of Green River. His interests included playing with his cars, going to the park, listening to his mom read stories and spending time with his family. Survivors include his parents; maternal grandfather, Darrell Rasdall of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; paternal grandmother, Ramona Allen of Rock Springs; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jeary Rasdall.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at the LDS Chapel, 120 Shoshone, Green River. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Green River. Bishop Terry Harding will conduct the services. Friends may call from 11 a.m. Monday until time of services the LDS Chapel.

ANDERSON, Elizabeth -- Death claimed another one of the Sweetwater county pioneers this week, when Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson passed away on Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter at the ripe old age of 81 years. The deceased was born at Haggn near Glasgow Scotland, on April 27, 1833 and spent her early life in that country. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Marshafi, she was united in marriage with Robert Anderson in 1863. They came to this country in 1869 locating first in Maryland. They came to Wyoming in 1876, settling first in the old coal camp of Carbon where they resided until 1882, when they came to Rock Springs. They spent several years on their ranch south of the city, until Mr. Andersons failing health engaged them to return to Rock Springs, where he passed away about six years ago, Mrs. Anderson also lost her only son J. M. Anderson about two years ago. Mrs. Anderson was well known to all the older residents of this community and will always be remembered as a good neighbor and a good friend. She is survived by a daughter Mrs. J. D. ? The funeral services were held at 10:00 am. Wednesday morning conducted by the Christian Science Society and were very largely attended. ANDERSON, Lela Hortense Terry passed away on June 28, 1991 in Anon City Colorado. Born April 27, 1901 in Canada to Charles A. and Chasta M. Peterson Terry Jr. Married Halvord H. Anderson, May 30, 1924 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; he preceded her in death in 1986. She raised her family in Green River Wyoming, moved to Salt Lake in 1970. She moved to Canon City, Colorado in 1987. Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Keith (Evelyn) Kohler, Florence, Colorado; Mrs. Jim (Thora) Scott, Green River, Wyoming; Mrs. Jim (Dixie) Wallace, The Colony, Texas; Mrs. Jim (Bobbette) Shrum, Ordway, Colorado; Mr. Paul (Margie) Brindley, Kennewick, Washington; Mrs. George (Lynda) Murray, Canon City, Colorado; sons, Terry and Jennie Anderson, Dallas, Texas; Jerry and Margaret Anderson, Torrance, California; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Frank and Veloy Gregory, Green River, Wyoming; Mae Miner, Provo; Bill and Beth Cox, Orem; Jex and Delores Terry, Vernal; Clair and Beverly Terry, Dutch John, Utah. Also preceded in death by daughter, Lola Faye Salsberry in 1974, grandson, Mark in 1989. Funeral services will be on Friday 11 a.m. at the Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Road, where friends may call 9:30-11 a.m. prior to the services. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.

ANDREWS, Daniel Craig 35, of Cairo, Egypt, died on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Andrews, along with 10 students, was on a diving trip on the Red Sea when there was an explosion on their boat. Andrews and two students were killed. He was born on Feb. 1, 1969, in Tacoma, Wash., the son of Marion Lee and Sandra Armstrong Andrews. Andrews attended schools in California and Green River and was a graduate of Green River High School with the class of 1987. He also attended the University of Florida and graduated in 1992. During his high school years, he was an announcer at KUGR radio station. He married Karen Shea in Cairo, Egypt, on March 15, 2002. Andrews was employed as a teacher at the Lincoln School in San Jose, Costa Rica, from 1992-1994, and Eckert Community Services at Blakesly, Ga., from 1994-1996. He was a teacher of social studies at Cairo American College in Cairo, Egypt, at the time of his death. Andrews sponsored Model United Nations and Close-Up. He was a member of the Mount of Olives Lutheran Church. His interests included photography, scuba diving and world travel. He is survived by his wife, Karen of Cairo; his parents, Marion and Sandra Andrews of Green River; one brother, Terry Andrews and wife Wren of Green River; two sisters, Kristy Andrews of Milton, Wash., and Kathy Stanton and husband Dan of Ford Madison, Iowa; and three nieces, Kyla, Juli and Hailee Andrews of Green River. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 900 Hitching Post Drive, Green River. The Rev. Bob Chapman of the Mount of Olives Lutheran Church will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Green River. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.

ANIZICH, Anton
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo., Nov. 24. – Anton Anizich, 38 years of age, died at the hospital from pneumonia. Deceased was a Jugo-Slav and his relatives in the old country. The funeral took place from the North Side Catholic church on Sunday afternoon and was largely attended. Father Schiffrer officiated.

ARGUELLO, Amelia, 88, of Reliance, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at her home. A resident of Reliance for the past 64 years and former resident of New Mexico, Mrs. Arguello died following a five- year battle with Alzheimers disease.
She was born April 27, 1919, in Llano Largo, N.M., the daughter of Guillermo and Maria Quintana Muniz.
She married Malaquias Arguello on Aug. 16, 1942, in Llano Largo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1984.
She was employed by School District No. 1 as a custodian at the Desert View School for 20 years and retired in 1984.
Her interests included spending time with her family.
Survivors include sons, Ed Arguello of Reliance, LeRoy Arguello of Rock Springs, Ron Arguello of Reliance and Norm Williamson of Green River; four daughters, Vivian Martinez of Mesa, Ariz., Luggie Peterson of Denver, Lillian Arguello of Reliance and Suzie Arguello of Rock Springs; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Joanne Williamson; one sister; and three brothers.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Broadway Rock Springs. A parish rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Monday, March. 3, 2008, at the church. Interment will be in the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park section of the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.

ARAMBEL, Karen G. 67, of 1349 Sage Court, Rock Springs, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Craig, Colo., Mrs. Arambel died following a brief illness. She was born on Aug. 21, 1936, in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late Edwin and Mabel Stavran Swanson. Mrs. Arambel attended schools in Rock Springs, and was a graduate of the Rock Springs High School with the class of 1954. She attended the University of Colorado and received a bachelor of science nursing degree in 1958. She married Robert P. Arambel in Rock Springs on July 16, 1960, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1994. Mrs. Arambel was employed as a visiting nurse for home healthcare, had also volunteered at Sage View Care Center and also participated in the wellness program in Rock Springs. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community, St. Veronicas Duplicate Bridge Club, PEO Chapter L and Daughters of the Nile. Her interests included spending time with her family and friends, skiing, swimming, golf, horseback riding, traveling, hiking, and playing duplicate bridge. Survivors include one son, Robert P. Arambel and wife Carrie of Lamar, Colo., two daughters, Peggy Espy and husband James of Savery and Jane Arambel-Kadillak and husband Matt of Golden, Colo.; four grandchildren, Logan Arambel and Tanner Arambel, both of Lamar, Mike Espy of Savery and John Kadillak of Golden. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 116 Broadway Ave., Rock Springs. The Rev. John Savio will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Josephs Section of the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at the church. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs, Sunday afternoon until 6 p.m. and at the church from 7-8 p.m., and also on Monday at the church until time of services.

AMIZICH, Rose M. 87, former resident of Rock Springs and resident of Boise, Idaho, for the past two years, died on Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Boise following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Amizich was born on April 1, 1917, in Homedale, Idaho, the daughter of the late John and Agnes Marcina Jesenko. She attended schools in Homedale. Mrs. Amizich married Anton Hap Amizich in Rock Springs on Oct. 5, 1952, and he preceded her in death in Rock Springs on Aug. 4, 1997. She was a member of the Catholic Slovenian Lodge and the Holy Spirit Catholic Community. Survivors include two daughters, Terry Zancanella and husband Dan of Rock Springs, and Elsie Kushlan and husband Dave of Homedale; five grandchildren, Eric Kushlan of Homedale, Cary Kushlan of Boise, Brad Kushlan and wife Aimee of Marsing, Idaho, and Jason Zancanella and wife Amanda and Marc Zancanella, both of Rock Springs; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters, Hazel Jesenko, Albina Dolence, Ann Krzesnik and Jennie Fisher; three brothers, John, Tony and Joe Jesenko; and one grandson, Brain Kushlan. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. The Rev. John Savio will conduct the services. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel Monday afternoon and evening until 8 p.m., and Tuesday until time of service

ASEVEDO, Arlo Robert, 31, of Glendale, Ariz., died accidentally in his home on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005. He was born Nov. 4, 1973, in Seattle. He was a certified master technician in heating and cooling. He owned his own business, Assured Mechanical. He lived in Rock Springs, Green River, Cody, Evanston, Sheridan, Casper and Worland before moving to Salt Lake City, then taking up resident in the Phoenix, Ariz., area. He enjoyed fishing, four-wheeling and pool. His biggest joy was his children. Survivors include his wife, Stacy; six children including Brandon, Blake and Ashley; his father, Robert Asevedo; his mother, Donna OBanion-Crook of Superior; his sister, Sara Swanson; and nephew, Aadam Swanson; and his grandparents, Ardith OBanion and R.W. OBanion. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Kevan Crook; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Asevedo. Cremation has taken place. A gravesite memorial will take place at a later date at the Superior Cemetery.

ASH, Jennie Ann, 92, of Green River, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River. A longtime resident of Green River and former resident of Worland and Evanston, Mrs. Ash had been in ill health for several years.
She was born March 6, 1916, in Dunkirk, Kan., the daughter of Rudolph Zorko and Frances Mondelj Zorko. She attended schools in Kansas.
She married John Vesco Sr. in Green River. He preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1965. She later married Verdon Ash in 1967 in Billings, Mont. He preceded her in death in February 1994.
Her interests included spending time with her family, gardening and traveling.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Albert ?Bob? Vesco and wife Joyce of Green River; daughter-in-law, Joan of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; one brother, Rudolph Zorko and wife Helen of Midvale, Utah; six grandchildren, Laurie Vesco of Wilmington, Del., Robin Vesco of Rock Springs, Karen Lynch of Sierra Vista, Debbie Vesco and Pamela Smith, both of Phoenix, and Kathleen Vesco of Glendale, Ariz.; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one son, John Vesco Jr.; one sister, Frances Davis; and one brother, Albert Zorko.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 900 Hitching Post Drive, Green River. A parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at the church. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 5-7 p.m. Thursday and on Friday morning at the church until time of services. Pallbearers will include Robin Vesco, Norman Davis, Dale Davis, Jim Lesko, Jon Lesko and Lukas Kirby.

ASSON, Narcisso -- The funeral of Narcisso Asson of Superior was held in this city on Monday afternoon and was one of the largest ever seen in Rock Springs The deceased passed away last Friday morning after a long illness. He had been a resident of this county for a number of years and leaves a wife and two children.
The services were held at the South Side Catholic church and he was laid to rest in St. Josephs cemetery. The Red Men and the Eagles, to which orders he belonged, escorted the body to its last resting place. Rock Springs Miner Friday, June 4, 1920

AULT, Sonja Nilson, 56, passed away November 17, 1995 in a Murray hospital. Born February 5, 1939 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Rodney W. and Lillian Russell Rollins. Married Gayle E. Nilson, June 6, 1958 in Green River, Wyoming; later divorced. Married Alton Ault, March 7, 1992 in Jackson, Wyoming. Graduate of Green River High School, attended University of Utah. Member of LDS Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Accomplished poet and pianist. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. Survived by husband, Alton Ault, Green River, Wyoming; daughter, Terri (Rick) Hagen; sons, Lance (Becky) Nilson and Mark (Aimee) Nilson, all of Salt Lake; stepson, Tobias Ault, Green River; stepdaughter, Jeslyn Broers, Lincoln, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Teisa and Jenna Hagen, Nathan and Markie Nilson, Mikayla Nilson, all of Salt Lake City; first husband, Gayle E. Nilson; father; brother, Russ Rollins; sister, Lee Ann Welstad, all of Green River, Wyoming; sister, Charlene Logan, Layton, Utah. Family and friends may call at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So.
