KAMENSKI, Elsie, 87, of Rock Springs, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Mrs. Kamenski had been in ill health for several years.
She was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Rock Springs, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa Kalan Jereb. She attended school in Rock Springs and was a 1937 graduate of Rock Springs High School. She married Stanley Steve Kamenski on Nov. 22, 1940, in Rock Springs at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1982.
Mrs. Kamenski was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and Slovenian Lodge. In her youth, she worked as a clerk at the Union Pacific Railroad Store.
Her interests included spending time with her family and her dogs, tending her home and yard, baking and watching ice skating on the television.
Survivors include her son, Gary Kamenski and wife Brenda of Grand Junction, Colo.; daughter, Gayle Webb and husband Reid of Rock Springs; brother, Ed Jereb and wife Marian of Yreka, Calif.; two grandsons, Andrew John Kamenski of Memphis, Tenn., and Jeffrey Steven Kamenski of Grand Junction; several nieces and nephews; and her dogs, Mindy and Jake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Joe Jereb; and two sisters, Amelia Parker and Josie Butkovich. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and at Vase Chapel on Thursday until time of funeral services
KAZMYER, Harry, 95, died February 9, 1990 in Salt Lake City. Born November 16, 1894 in Shawno, Wisconsin. Harry and family homesteaded in the Burnt Fork, Wyoming and Daggett County, Utah area in 1920. He married Florence Hallett, November 27, 1922. She died February 14, 1983. During his lifetime, Harry enjoyed many occupations, including logging, ranching, and cattle buying. He was an avid and excellent fisherman, outdoorsman, and traversed many miles of ranch and countryside on foot. World War I Veteran and member American Legion. Moved to Salt Lake City in 1976. Endeared to all who knew him for his generosity and sense of humor. Survived by daughter, Edith Welch, Salt Lake; granddaughter, Judy and her husband, Mel Milgrom, Sandy; grandson, Bob Welch and his wife, Sue, Denver; great-grandchildren, Tom, John, David, Douglas, Kimberly. Preceded in death by sisters, Etta Bingham, Mable Warby, Lucille Luke, Eleanor Sayer, Velva Jean Twitchell, brother, Ben.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 12, 1990, 12 noon at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East. Interment, McKinnon Wyoming Cemetery, 4 p.m. February 12, 1990.
KELLER, Charles E. Buzz, 90, of Port Orchard, Wash. died on Friday, Nov. 3, 2006. Mr. Keller died following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 27, 1916, in Dawson County, Mont. the son of Edward and Johanna Timmerscheidt Keller. Mr. Keller attended school in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1934. He married Betsy Imogene Bohn on July 14, 1940 in Rock Springs . She preceded him in death in 1997. Keller worked as a switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad for 36 years until his retirement in 1976. He was a lifetime member of the Odd Fellows in Rock Springs, and a member of the First Congregati-onal Church. His interests included photography, woodworking, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include two sons, John Keller and wife Royce of Newcastle, and Richard Dick Keller and wife Vicki of Port Orchard; one daughter, Loretta Patrick and husband Jerry of Bremerton; and sister, Barbara Swanson and husband Earl of Denver. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Johanna; wife Betsy; one infant daughter, Barbara Keller; and one brother, Earl Bud Keller. Graveside services and inurnment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery in Rock Springs.
KINNIBURG Evelyn C., 85 of Green River, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A longtime resident of Green River, she had been in ill health for one month.
She was born March 8, 1923, in Claire, Kan., the daughter of Jacob and Mary Steier Veesart. She attended high school in Topeka, Kan., and was a 1941 graduate of Capital Catholic High School.
She married John M. Kinniburgh on April 17, 1947, in Green River. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1991.
Beginning in 1945, Mrs. Kinniburgh was employed at the Union Pacific Beanery for 19 years. She then worked for the Coachman Inn until 1970, when she started at the U.P. Clubhouse, where she worked until 1985.
Mrs. Kinniburgh was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sweetwater County Historical Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars Women?s Auxiliary, Union Pacific Old Timers and Golden Hour Senior Citizens Center.
Her interests included collecting historical articles, reading, cooking, baking for her family and friends and purchasing things for her family and herself on QVC.
Survivors include one son, Mike Kinniburgh and wife Brenda of Green River; three daughters, Anita Brady and husband Neldon, Patricia Meyer and husband Richard and Mary Dillard and husband Marlin, all of Green River; one brother, Lawrence Veesart and wife Betty of Rock Springs; two sisters, Bernardine Bell of Medford, Ore., and Mary Rita Dilley of St. Joseph, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Matthew Kinniburgh of Green River; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister; 11 brothers-in-law; and seven sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 900 Hitching Post Drive, Green River. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at the church. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the church and again one hour prior to services Wednesday.
KONTICH, Marko
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo., Nov. 24. – Marko Kontich, aged two years and three months, died at the home of his parents at Lion on Thursday as the result of severe scalding from hot water several days before. KOURBELAS, Mary, 90, of Green River, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 3, 1917, in Green River, the daughter of Steven and Grace Kourbelas. She attended school in Green River and was a Green River High School graduate with the class of 1936.
She was then employed at the Sweetwater County Assessors Office and eventually elected the Sweetwater County assessor. Ms. Kourbelas held that position until she retired.
Her survivors include two brothers, Nickolas Kourbelas and Thomas Kourbelas; one sister, Tula Swan and husband Dale; two nephews, Neil Kourbelas and Reed Kourbelas and their wives; and cousins, Nicole Bolton and husband Michael and their two daughters, Steven Kourbelas and Soph Kourbelas and wife Juanita and their family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 405 N St., Rock Springs. Father Mario Giannopolos will officiate. A prayer service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel, 263 E. Flaming Gorge Way, Green River. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Green River.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel and on Tuesday at the Vase Chapel until time of services. Pallbearers include Steven Kourbelas, Neil Kourbelas, Harold Walker, Dale Swan, Tim Stadler, George Nomis and Bill Theile. Honorary pallbearers include Soph Kourbelas, Harry Karician, Scott Pappas, Gus Kalivas, Lawrence Marty, Darral Smith, George Lev and Harry Pappas.
KUCKERT, Robert, 63, of 210 Crossbow, Green River, died at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, 2003. Kuckert had been in ill health for the past three months. He was born on May 19, 1940, in Kief, N.D., the son of William and Lillian Krien Kuckert. He attended schools in McClusky, N.D., and graduated from the McClusky High School with the class of 1958. He married the former Louise Flores in Green River on Aug. 7, 1964. He served in the U.S. Army. Kuckert was an accountant at General Chemical, a maintenance man for the railroad and Sweetwater County School District No. 2, and also owned and operated an autobody shop. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, F.O. Eagles No. 2350 in Green River, and the American Legion in Martin, S.D. His interests included tinkering and restoring old cars, yard work, building structures, his grandchildren, and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Louise of Green River; his mother, Lillian Kuckert of New Salem, N.D.; one son, William S. Kuckert of Green River; one daughter, Susan L. Gazewood and husband Brian of Kennewick, Wash.; four grandchildren, Arianna and Jett Kuckert and Jacob and Jackie Gazewood; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 900 Hitching Post Drive, Green River. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at the church. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Monsignor Eugene Sullivan will officiate. KOURIS, Visalois "Bill", age 71, died September 17, 1997 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs, where he had been a patient for one day. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Mr. Kouris had been in ill health for the past two years. He was born on March 15, 1926 in Hanna, Wyoming, the son of the late Marinos and Koula Frangoudakis Kouris. Mr. Kouris attended schools in Reliance and was a graduate of Reliance High School, class of 1944. Mr. Kouris, a retired U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He was the owner and operator of the Kouris Insurance Company in Rock Springs, Wyoming for several years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, the Downtown Merchants Assoc., the Motel and Tourism Assoc., the Chamber of Commerce, a past Post Commander for the American Legion, the BPO Elks, a board member for Southwest Counseling for eight years, a tax aid coordinator for AARP for the State of Wyoming for four years. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, of Rock Springs, WY; three sons, Kraig Kouris of Rock Springs; Bill and Sharon Kouris of Sacramento, CA; Michael and Dianna Kouris of Riverton, WY; two daughters, Vicki Budak of Rock Springs; Charlotte Kouris of Elko, NV; one step-daughter, Jackie Carlson of Las Vegas, NV; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gust and Helen Kouris of Moline, IL; Stanley and Sophie Kouris of West Jordan; one sister and brother-in-law, Goldie and James Karras of Murray; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Kouris of Cheyenne, WY; and Zara Kouris of San Leandro, CA; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one aunt, Melba Kouris of Salt Lake City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kouris was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrea and Michael Kouris and one sister. LAMPI Matt, the death of Matt Lampi occurred at the hospital last Sunday, from pneumonia. The deceased was a native of Finland and was 40 years of age. LANE, Eugene T. Sr., 85, of 928 Adams St., Rock Springs, died Feb. 14, 2006 at his home. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Lane died following a lengthy illness He was born on April 17, 1920 in Hanna, the son of John T. and Margaret A. Corrigan Lane. Lane attended schools in Rock Springs and was a graduate of the Rock Springs High School with the class of 1938. He married Cassie W. Harrigan on Nov. 16, 1938 in Green River. She preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 1997. Lane served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the United Mine Workers and was employed by the Reliance and Stansbury mines for 10 years. He was a heavy equipment operator for County Road and Bridge for 37 years until his retirement in September 1982. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His interests included spending time with his family. He was also an avid Bronco and Jazz fan. He is survived by three sons, Jerry H. Lane of Donnley, Idaho, Jack T. Lane of Rock Springs and Gene Lane Jr. of Rock Springs; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Cassie; two sisters, Evelyn and Margaret; and one brother, Charles Lane. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006 at the First Baptist Church, Corner of C and Pine Streets, Rock Springs. Military graveside services and interment will be in the Mountain View section of the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. LANE, Pearl D, 101, of 1445 Uinta Drive, Green River, died at 12:01 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs, where she had been a patient for the past two days. A resident of Green River since 1911, Mrs. Lane died following a brief illness. She was born on Nov. 29, 1900, in Burnt Fork, the daughter of the late John Baxter and Caroline Augusta Adams Wade.
Mrs. Lane attended schools in Urie and Green River. She married George S. Cottle on Jan. 3, 1916, in Rock Springs and he preceded her in death in 1942. She later married William Lane on July 20, 1942, in Green River, and he preceded her in death in 1957. Mrs. Lane was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church, past president of the Union Pacific Old Timers Club Ladies Auxiliary, Golden Hour Senior Citizens Center and was director for two years, and the Rebecca Lodge No. 33 of Green River since 1919. In 1948, she received the Decoration of Chivalry from the Rebecca Lodge, the highest honor a member can receive. She also played duplicate bridge and was a member of the ABCL National Bridge Club, and also belonged to many bridge clubs through the years. Her father was a Pony Express Rider in the late 1800s and helped with building the railroad through Green River. She is survived by six grandchildren, Wadeen Lungren of Rock Springs, George Twitchell of Laramie, Karen Cottle of Burien, Wash., Sherrie Matthews of Seattle, Wash., John Douglas Hudak of Tulsa, Okla, and Jan Nelson of Cypress, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two daughters; one son; five brothers; four sisters; and one granddaughter, Sharon Rosette.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at the St. John's Episcopal Church, 350 Mansface, Green River. The Rev. Russell Johnson will conduct the services. LARSON, Robert Laurence, 86, of 1005 Wyoming St., Rock Springs, died at 7:35 a.m. Monday, May 31, 2004, at the Sage View Care Center where he had been a resident for the past one month. He was a lifelong resident of Rock Springs. He was born on Oct. 14, 1917, in Rock Springs, the son of the late Louis and Lillie Matson Larson. He attended schools in Rock Springs and was a graduate of the Rock Springs High School with the class of 1936. Larson studied engineering at the University of Wyoming until he was drafted for World War II. He married Josephine Donahue on June 28, 1945, in Horseheads, N.Y. They lived in Rock Springs, where they had three children. Larson was a member of the American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24, and was co-founder of the Sweetwater Chapter of the Wyoming Archaeological Society in 1965. He served as the official Rock Springs weather observer for the U.S. Department of Commerce Weather Bureau for more than 20 years. He was employed as a carpenter and later at the U.S. Postal Service and retired in June of 1978. His interests included fishing, rock hunting, hunting, and spending time with his family at their cabin near South Pass. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Josephine Larson; two sons, Terry Larson and wife Diane of Casper, and Ronald Larson and wife Mary Lu of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Julie Farr and husband Les of Rock Springs; five grandchildren, Todd Larson of Laramie, Chess Larson and wife Jill of San Diego, Calif., Chris Larson and wife Lisa of San Diego, Erin Larson of Boston, and Elise Farr of Rock Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Cremation will take place and a memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. LARSEN, Toney -- Mr. Larsen was born in Denmark June 1, 1863, where he grew up and where he learned the trade of watchmaker and jeweler. He decided to try his fortunes in America when but a young man and located in Rock Springs twenty-five years ago. Here by his integrity and thrift he had built up a fine business in the jewelry line and had accumulated competency.
Last summer he returned to Denmark for the first time since leaving twenty-five years before, and enjoyed a visit with his aged father, three brothers, and three sisters. He had only been back a few weeks when he left on the fatal hunting expedition.
Mr. Larsen was a kind husband and father and his family are indeed bereaved by his death. He leaves a widow and five children, Earle, Grace, Alma, Hazel, and Jubert. The greatest of sympathy is felt for Mrs. Larsen in her double affliction, as the news of her husbands accident reached her on the day of the burial of her sister, Miss Fredda Jamieson.
The funeral services were held at the family residence on Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Keplinger and many beautiful flowers were sent by sorrowing friends. Interment was made in the Rock Springs cemetery. [Saturday November 23, 1907, "Rock Springs Miner"]
LAUDER, Orson -- One of the old residents of the southern part of this county passed away at the Wyoming General Hospital at ten oclock on Friday morning, at the age of 72 years.
Mr. Lauder has lived in this county for over thirty years, the greatest part of this period having been spent on his ranch on Sage creek. For a number of years he has been a suffer from cancer, and about tow weeks ago he was taken to the hospital at Rock Springs, but there was no hope for his recovery. The funeral services were held from the home of William Bates, at Rock Springs last Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was well and favorably know throughout the county, he was a man, when a friend, a true one, and an obliging neighbor, and many will regret his passing on. A number of Green River friends attended the funeral. [Green River Star, Friday January 22, 1915]
LAWSON -- Theo. J. Lawson died very suddenly Tuesday afternoon at the home of his mother, Mrs. L. Thomas on First street from heart failure. Deceased was 35 years of age. The remains were shipped to Denver for burial. ["Wyoming State Tribune- Cheyenne State Leader", 02 Sep 1919]

Funeral Services for Murdered Rancher Are Held - Accidents Reported at Rock Springs
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. Sept. 2.- The body of Leander Johnson, who was shot and killed by one of his sheep-herders last week, was shipped to Ogden for burial on Sunday evening. The Elks lodge of which the deceased was a member, held a funeral service and escorted the body to the depot. William McKinley, who is said to have killed Johnson, has not yet been arrested. LESKO, Louise Sylvia, 86, of Rock Springs, died at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at the Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs. A longtime resident of Rock Springs, she lived in Pinedale for 15 years at the Sublette County Retirement Center and was a former resident of Green River, both at the Villa and the Convalescent Center for the past one and one half years and at Sage View Care Center to present.
She was born on Feb. 5, 1917, in Olmitz, Iowa, the daughter of the late Charles Del Pierre and Marie Vanderecken Del Pierre.
Mrs. Lesko attended schools in Williamson, Iowa, and graduated from the Williamson High School with the class of 1935.
She married Andy Lesko on June 4, 1936, in Lancaster, Mo., and he preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1985.
Mrs. Lesko was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Leon Lesko and wife Frances of Rock Springs; one daughter, Nancy Pivik and husband Arthur of Rock Springs; five grandchildren, Edward Pivik of Houston, Texas, DeAnna Cheese and husband John, Dewayne Pivik and wife Debra, Jim Lesko and wife Stephanie, and Jon Lesko and wife Dena, all of Rock Springs; three great-grandchildren, Branden Cheese, Kody Pivik and Erik Pivik.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andy; one daughter in infancy, Lois Ann; and four brothers, John, Leon, Charles and Phillip; and four sisters, Madeline, Charlotte, Lucille and Mary.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. The Rev. John Savio will officiate. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at the chapel. Interment will be in the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park. LEWIS, Mabel E., 90, of Green River, WY died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001. She was born on February 10, 1911 in Green River, WY, the daughter of the late Edgar and Maude Spicer McBride. Mrs. Lewis attended schools in Green River, WY. She married John Lewis in Manila, UT on Oct. 20, 1932 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1981. Survivors include one daughter Donna J. Cudney and husband Bobby J. of Green River, WY; two sisters, Virginia Mengel of North Platte, NE; and Mary Burke of Palmer, AK; three grandchildren, Pamela (Leonard) Woolsey, Clinton, UT; Robert (Connie) Cudney, Gree River, WY; Cindy (Mike) Simpson, Green River, WY; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother in infancy and one sister in infancy. LIVELY, Mary -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lively, 83 who died at the Wyoming General Hospital on Thursday were conducted in the Rogan funeral chapel Saturday afternoon with the Rev. John R. George of the Baptist church officiating. Interment was in the Mountain View cemetery. She was born in Illinois on February 2, 1846 and for several years had lived with her son Thomas Lively, at Lionkol. [Salt Lake Tribune, Sunday March 18, 1934]
LOGAN, Mrs. J. S. -- On July 1st the sad news was received from Ogden, Utah, that Mrs. J. S. Logan, had passed on at 4:10 that morning, passing to her heavenly toward, surrounded by a heart broken husband, daughter and mother. The news brought grief to the hearts of a host of friends throughout the entire county, where the deceased has lived her entire life, and was held in high regard by all.
She had been a patient sufferer for many months, the last four and a half months have been spent in Ogden, where every medical attention and expert nurse attendants were given her, with the hope of restoring her to good health, while relatives and friends, wherever she was known, did everything in their power to stay the hand of the angel of death, and by kindly acts and words of sympathy endeavor to lessen the sorrow that was surrounding the devoted husband, young daughter and faithful, loving parents.
Last Sunday morning the remains were brought to this city and taken to the family home where on Sunday at 2:30 P. M. the impressive Eastern Star ceremony was conducted by Worthy Matron Metha Thomson and Worthy Patron E. E. Waltman of Mystic Chapter No. 8, assisted by the other officers of the order, the O. E. S. trio rendering some beautiful selections. From the home the body was conveyed to the St. Johns Episcopal Church, .where Rev. R. E. Abraham conducted the funeral service, a quartet lending to the impressiveness of the service with well chosen selections.
From the church to Riverview cemetery the remains were preceded by the members of the Eastern Star, while the beautiful auto hearse of Undertaker Frank Rogan of Rock Springs conveyed the remains, followed by the longest cortege of sorrowing friends ever witnessed at a funeral in Green River, relatives and friends being here from all over the county, as well as many from Utah, Idaho and other states, to show their respects to the departed one.
The floral offerings were unusually numerous, and the floral pieces were of every conceivable design, which tokens of floral tribute showed most conclusively how well she was beloved by all who enjoyed her acquaintance.
Mrs.. J. S. Logan, was formerly Miss Tena Riddle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Heriot Riddle, pioneers of this county, but of recent years have resided at McCammon, Idaho. She was born in Rock Springs March 17, 1886, where she resided with her parents, becoming the wife of Mr. J. S. Logan May 10, 1905, to which union a daughter was born. Mr. and Mrs. Logan moved to this city February 17, 1910, where they have since made their home. Deceased is survived by a husband, daughter, father, mother, two sisters and one brother. To the bereaved and heart broken relatives, especially to the fifteen year old daughter, Mary, who is left without a mothers care and guidance is extended the heartfelt sympathy of all. LOGERWELL, Elmma -- The death of Mrs. Elmma Logerwell occurred at the Wyoming General hospital at six oclock on Thursday evening. Mrs. Logerwell was brought to the hospital last Saturday in a very serious condition and her death occurred on Thursday. This is a very sad case, as she leaves a husband and six little children, the eldest but seven years of age. She was thirty two years of age. LOPEZ, Willie Sr., 91, of Thermopolis, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Thermopolis. A resident of Thermopolis and former resident of Reliance, Mr. Lopez died following a lengthy illness.
He was born Nov. 2, 1916, in San Antonio, the son of Ben and Mary Lynch Lopez. He attended schools in San Antonio.
He married Dora Gamez in 1934 in San Antonio. They later divorced. He married Mary Roderiquez. They later divorced. He married Carmen Abram. They later divorced. He married Viviana M. Archuleta on Dec. 23, 2003 in Thermopolis.
Mr. Lopez worked on the San Antonio River Beautification Project. He worked for the San Antonio Arsenal as a shipping expeditor in 1941. He then moved to Portland, Ore. with his family.
He worked for Kaiser Shipyards as a ship painter until 1945. They then moved to Superior, where he was employed by the Union Pacific Coal Company and worked at the DO Clark Mine No. 1045 until 1956. He also worked on the Flaming Gorge Project as a rock driller and powder man from 1957 to 1960. He was then employed by Martin Construction Company as a roustabout and powder man from 1960 to 1962. He was also employed by the Colorado Oil Company as a plant operator. He retired in 1983 from Coastal Oil and Gas Company after 21 years of service. After his retirement, he lived in Reliance until 1992. He then moved to the Adel Ranch in the Windriver Canyon until November 2002.
His interests included collecting antiques, yard work, fishing, reading, watching TV and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Viviana Lopez of Thermopolis; two sons, John Lopez of Bountiful, Utah, and Bob Lopez of Yuma, Ariz.; one stepson, Theodore Novakovich, III of Broomfield, Colo.; three daughters, Dorothy Lopez Anastos of Green River, Judy Ann Lopez Hursh of Windriver Canyon and Kathy Lopez Jewitt of Anaheim, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Tiffaney Ann Novakovich McNeff of Virginia Beach, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; seven nephews; one niece; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons; four sisters; two grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, at the church. Interment will be the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, 250 Yellowstone Road, Rock Springs.
Friends may call from 5-6 p.m. Friday at the Vase Funeral Chapel. People may call at the church from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday and on Saturday one hour prior to services.
LOWE, Fred C., 79, of 227 Scottsbottom Road, Green River, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. A resident of Green River since 1979 and former resident of Walden, Colo., Lowe had been in ill health since July. He was born July 16, 1928, in Kemmerer, the son of Charles and Beulah Twitchell Lowe. He attended school in Manila, Utah. He married the former Ann Parker on Oct. 28, 1954, in Lander. Lowe was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War and a self-employed rancher. His interests included spending time with his family; horses; and leather working, making saddles and tac for his family. Survivors include his wife, Ann Lowe of Green River; one son, Fredrick Rick C. Lowe and wife Becky of Gillette; three daughters, Martha Jean LaHue and husband Steve of Rio Rancho, N.M., Lizbeth Ann Lowe of Urie and Linda Pollard and husband Lynn of Cheyenne; one brother, Bruce Lowe and wife Connie of Sheridan; one sister, Virginia Meyer and husband Art of Lander; one granddaughter, Jennifer; five grandsons, Scott, T.E., Christopher, Glen and Mike; and several nieces and nephews. MACKRELL, Shirley Marie, 71, of Green River, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at the University of Utah. She had been a resident of Green River for 50 years and former resident of Salt Lake City for 21 years. She was born on March 13, 1931, in Green River, the daughter of the late Claude and Henrietta Katzmeyer Bingham and was a graduate of the Lincoln High School with the class of 1949. She married Archibald Mackrell in Green River, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1976. Her interests included painting, crocheting, ceramics and playing bingo. Survivors include three sons, Ronald James Albert and wife Robbie, Paul Mackrell and wife Cheryl and Archie Mackrell, all of Green River; two daughters, Connie Marie Pratt of West Valley, Utah, and Julie Ann Hays and husband Brian of Garland, Texas; one brother, Bob Bingham and wife Barbara of Green River; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Bingham of Pinedale; six grandchildren, Shelly Albert, Janeen Albert, D.J. MANDICH, Eli -- A fatal accident occurred in the Green River yards Tuesday. Eli Mandich was working between two cars and some how the danger sign had not been placed on the cars. An engine bumped against them and Mandich was crushed to death. He was 26 years of age and was a brother of Assistant Foreman Mandich of this city. MARCHETTI, Batista was an Austrian who died of typhoid fever Sunday August 27, 1893. The funeral took place Monday afternoon. Headed by the City Band the procession marched from the Austrian Society Hall to the Catholic Church where services were held by Father Delahunty, after which the march was continued to the cemetery. The deceased was a single man, 24 years of age. Two cousins in this place are the only relatives in this country to mourn his loss
MARTIN, ANNA -- News of the death of Miss Anna Martin, which occurred at 7:30 on Tuesday evening, was a great shock to many of her friends in the community. Her illness was of only a weeks duration and, with youth on her side, it was hoped that the battle against the dread disease, pneumonia might have a different ending. Anna was horn in Fairfield, IL., twenty-six years ago, and came lo Rock Springs with her mother and sisters when hut nine years old. She had grown to womanhood in this community, where her happy disposition and lovable character had made for her a host of friends. She will be sadly missed by her family and her friends. She leaves to mourn a mother, Mrs. Anna Martin and three sisters, Mrs. John E. Jones. Mrs. Charles Jackson and Mrs. Henry Chipp. The funeral services were held at the congregational church on Friday afternoon, and were attended by a large concourse of sorrowing friends. MARUSINSKI, Mary -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Marusinski, 44, wife of Joseph Marusinski Sr., who died at the hospital here Sunday August 11, 1940 will be conducted in the North Side Catholic church at 9 a. m. Wednesday with the Rev. Albin Goldovee officiating. Burial will be in the St. Josephs cemetery, under the direction of the Rogan mortuary. Mary Sabo was born in Rudank Czechoslovakia, April 10, 1896, a daughter of Albert and Anna Sabo. The family emigrated to Rock Springs in 1900, and here she grew to womanhood and was married here. Surviving besides her husband are a son, Joseph Marusinski and a daughter Mrs. Mary Seale, all of Rock Springs; seven sisters, Mrs. Annie Young of Los Angeles, Mrs. Frances Diana, Mrs. Amelia Charles of Denver, Mrs. Cecelia Jelosek of Rock Springs. Mrs. Helen McGraw of Los Angeles, Mrs. Erma Rosens of Rock Springs and Mrs. William Gildroy also of Rock Springs; two brothers, Albert Sabo Jr. and George Sabo both of this city and her father, also living in Rock Springs.
MASS, Phillip, one of the oldest pioneer settlers of this region, passed away last Sunday in Green River, at a ripe old age. Mr. Mass was one of the most remarkable characters of the inter-mountain country and if the story of his life could be written it would be filled with enough adventure and pioneer history to make a thrilling volume. He was born in Chihauahua, Mexico and came to this region when a young man. He is remembered as one of the riders of the old Pony Express and rode into Salt Lake as far back as 1852. His exact age is not known, as he always told people he was "sixty-six" having referred to grow beyond that age limit. He lived for many years on his ranch on Henrys Fork but recently made his home with a daughter in Green River. His body was taken back to the old ranch home for burial. MENGHINI, William A. 75, of Bountiful, died June 22, 1993. He was born November 18, 1917 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the son of John B. and Lina Ziller Menghini. He was a member of St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Bountiful and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, Bountiful; and two brothers, Rudy, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Henry, Rock Springs, Wyoming. MCALISTER, Shirley Ann -- Mrs. Shirley Ann Behunin McAlister, of Cheyenne, 29 died September 30, 1964 at Fitzsomons Hospital in Denver after an extended illness. Her husband Val is stationed at Warren Air Force Base. Shirley was born Nov 15, 1934 in Manila, Utah. She traduated from Manila High School and attended Brigham University graduating with a bachelor of arts degree. She taught school in Big Sandy, Rawlins and after here marriage in Cheyenne. She was married to Val E. McAlister June 1, 1957 in McKinnon. Together they went to North Africa for a few months returning in Nov. 1961, to make their home in Cheyenne. Surviving in addition to here husband, are one son Hubert, Cheyenne, parents Mr. and Mrs. Orson Beuhunin of McKinnon, three sisters, Mrs. James (Bonnie) Jorgensen of Salt Lake City, Mrs. James (Myrna) Lupher of Mountain View and Mrs. Lloyd (Geraldine) Lofton of Evanston, two brothers, Donald Behunin of McKinnon and Karl Behunin of Mountain View and several nieces and nephews. MICHAELIS, Daniel Paul, 54, of 2911 Colima Drive, Rock Springs, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Powell, Michaelis had been in ill health for the past two years. He was born Oct. 3, 1952, in Worland, the son of Willis J. and Elsie M. Zimmerman Michaelis. He attended school in Greybull and was a graduate of Greybull High School with the class of 1971. He graduated from Northwest Community College with a degree in welding technology. He married Holly Neher on Aug. 19, 1972, in Powell. Michaelis was employed by the Jim Bridger Power Plant for 30 years as a supervisor. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an avid outdoorsman whose interests included hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his dogs Bailee and Bree. Survivors include his wife, Holly Michaelis of Rock Springs; mother, Elsie Michaelis of Greybull; two brothers, Kelly Michaelis and wife Linda of Billings, Mont., and Barry Michaelis of Greybull; three sisters, Patty Crumrine and husband Dave of Medford, Ore., Kate Ewen and husband Jerry of Shell and Sandy Richard and husband John of St. George, Kan.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Lillian Neher of Powell; extended family, the Rev. ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo., Nov. 24. – On the arrival of No. 1 on Thursday morning information was lodged that John Wesley Miller aged 68 years, had died on the train between Rock Springs and Rawlins. Deceased accompanied by his wife and two sons were on their way from their home in Cody, Ohio, to California where they intended to spend the winter. MISURE, Louis -- A fatal accident occurred in the mine at Sweetwater last Saturday evening when Louis Misura lost his life. In some manner he fell between the cars and the trip passed over him. MOCKLER, John -- Last Saturday morning John Mockler, son of Mrs. Margaret Mockler of this city, passed away at the home of his mother, after an illness of only a few days.
Mr. Mockler had been a sufferer of asthma for the greater part of his life, and for the past few months had been unable to attend to his duties, as switchman for the Union Pacific in the local yards.
He was thirty-six years of age and had spent almost his entire life in this city, coming here from Nebraska with his parents when only five years old.
The funeral was held from the local Catholic church last Tuesday afternoon, and a large number of his friends accompanied the remains to their last resting place in Riverview cemetery. [Green River Star, Friday September 9, 1921]

MORRIS, Marion R. "Ray", 66, of 211 Logan Street, Green River, Wyoming, died at 10:10 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 1998 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs, where he had been a patient since December 27, 1997. A resident of Green River since 1959 and former longtime resident of Sheridan, Wyoming. Mr. Morris had been in ill health for the past several years. He was born April 25, 1931 in Wyamo, Wyoming, the son of the late Eban W. and Winnie Story Morris. Mr. Morris attended schools in Sheridan and married the former Nina E. Sobotka, in Buffalo, Wyoming on November 19, 1948. He worked as mine warehouse foreman for FMC Corporation for many years until his retirement in 1996. Mr. Morris was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2350. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Morris enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating. Survivors include his wife, Nina, of Green River; three sons, Jon w. Morris and wife, Gayle, of Salt Lake city, Utah; Steve Morris, of Morenci, Arizona; and Joseph D. Morris and wife, Jean Ann, of Glendale, Arizona; one daughter, Connie J. Thompson, of Green River; three brothers, Willis Morris, of Sheridan; James Morris, of Portland, Oregon; and Glen Morris, of Salt Lake city, Utah; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Heather, Nicholas and Robert Morris, all of Salt Lake City; Matthew and Kelly Morris, of Glendale; and Jason Perry and wife, Jenny, of Hulet, Wyoming; two great-grandchildren, Elisabeth Anne and Erin Ray Perry, both of Hewlett; and several nieces and nephews. MORISON, Mary Maxine Morison, 74, of 1445 Uinta Drive, Green River, died on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center, where she had been a patient for the past three years. A resident of Green River and former resident of Utah, Mrs. Morison had been in ill health for the past several years. She was born on Dec. 28, 1928, in Bingham Canyon, Utah, the daughter of the late Jerome and Elizabeth Pollock Reynolds. Mrs. Morison attended schools in Bingham Canyon and in Bennion, Utah, and was a graduate of Bennion High School with the class of 1936. She married Robert Morison in Green River on Oct. 11, 1947, and he preceded her in death in 1983. Her interest was spending time with her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include four sons, Robert Morison, Clinton Morison, Mike Morison and wife Tracey, and Mark Morison and wife Shana, all of Green River; three daughters, Melinda Wadsworth and husband Doug of Green River, Paula Jones and husband Robert of Fort Bridger, and Melody Swanson and husband Keith of Green River; one brother, Ken Reynolds of Washington, Utah; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and five sisters.
